Training your crews
Courses available at Gloucestershire range from ab initio
advanced and role conversion training for external customers,
to continuation and instrument flying training for PAS/MAS crews.
They include:
- Basic, advanced and operational flying
- JAR-FCL approved Instrument Rating
- JAR-FCL approved TRI/IRI course (not Module 1)
- CAA approved TRE standardisation course
- Mountain, night vision goggle (NVG) and instrument flying
- Utility role conversion
- Conversion to type (MD 900/902, EC 135, AS 355, BO 105 and
BN2)
- HEMS crewmember
- Police observer
- Crew resource management (CRM)
- Covert surveillance (fixed wing)
- Flight safety
- Operational training for senior emergency service personnel
Programmes are structured to meet the needs of individual
customers, taking into account geographic, cultural, operational
and technical variations. The police observer course provides
officers with a sound basic knowledge of airmanship and covers
the full requirements of the UK Police Air Observer's Training
Manual. Paramedic training is conducted in support of ambulance
service requirements, to provide trained crewmembers to operate
in air ambulance units.

For student pilots, ground training takes place in dedicated
areas and instrument flying training is on a flight and navigation
procedure trainer (FNPT Level II). Flying training is also conducted
in-house.
