Course Introduction

Specialist Aviation Services Ltd (SAS) has an EASA Approved Part 147 Training Organisation that offers a Human Factors Course that meets the requirements of IR2042 as an acceptable means of compliance as required by AMC145.A.30(e).

The course is aimed at engineers and staff who are associated either directly or indirectly with aircraft maintenance operations, the support of those operations or management decision making relating to those operations.  The course is therefore relevant to engineering, stores, tech records, design, manufacturing, purchasing, commercial, project management, aircrew and management staff.

Topics covered

The course covers the following topics:

• Human Performance Limitations
• Social Psychology
• Factors Affecting Performance
• Physical Environment
• Tasks/Jobs
• Communication
• Human Error
• Hazards in the Workplace
• Reporting Systems

Each student is provided with a copy of the training manual and additional handouts that can be used as a source of reference in the future.  Towards the end of the course a description of an accident is provided to all students who apply their knowledge of Human Factors to define the “error chain” that led to the accident and also to determine what could have been done to prevent the accident.

Location

The course is carried out at SAS’ EASA 147 Approved Training Organisation located at Gloucester (Staverton) Airport in Gloucestershire.
