This new state-of-the-art facility enables the helicopter to respond to medical emergencies as soon as they are reported, enabling it to get to its patients faster than ever.

At the opening ceremony, the Prince, who was also appointed honorary Chief Pilot of the Air Ambulance Charity took time to discuss the challenges of operating helicopters in the air ambulance role with the Unit's pilot, Steve Cobb and the paramedic crews.

Steve is employed as Unit Chief Pilot by Medical Aviation Services which also provides and maintains the Charity's MDH Explorer Air Ambulance.
