Medical Aviation Services

To respond effectively to medical emergencies, and deliver care to patients in time to make a real difference, ambulance services need to retain 100 per cent confidence that their air assets are ready to go - and fully operational. MAS' crews deliver that confidence around the UK, every single day of the year.

Simply stated, MAS supplies outstanding aviation resources to its customers, through the skills of its pilots and engineers and the excellent operational performance of its equipment.

At any moment during the day, teams of pilots and engineers are on duty at a dozen locations around the country. Some of them will be already airborne, perhaps at the site of a major road accident, helping to deliver first aid or getting casualties to hospital A&E units, in time to benefit from the all-important Golden Hour following an accident. Others will be standing by to respond to such a call. All will be alert with a helicopter ready to fly.

These front-line teams are supported by colleagues at Gloucestershire Airport. There are spare floater pilots and observers in case one of the regular crewmembers needs to take a break.

There are spare aircraft in case of both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance periods. Engineers are ready to react to any circumstance and, in support of them; hundreds of thousands of pounds-worth of spare parts lie ready in the stores. Links to manufacturers and suppliers ensure that non-stock items are delivered promptly and just-in-time stock levels maintained. Backing up all this are planning, administrative and management staff.

Over 20 years experience of providing aviation support to the emergency services including the installation of aircraft medical role equipment.
